Internet Web Site Traffic Course – Part 2 – Social Bookmarking
By Marlene Kristensen

There are several ways to increase the traffic coming to your website. The internet web site traffic course is in 5 parts. In this second part we will focus on Social Bookmarking. You will learn about what is social bookmarking, how to bookmark, what not to do, how to get others to bookmark your links and most important why even bother.

What is social bookmarking?

In a nutshell, Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to share, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web resources. Bookmarks are links to web pages, pictures, videos or other content found on the internet.

Bookmarking is growing in popularity and if you really want to get all the benefits and generate internet web site traffic with social bookmarking, you should start as soon as possible. I know it seems like a huge task but you will soon get the hang of it. If you do not want to do this yourself, it is quite easy to outsource. You can even find software that will speed up the process for you.

Where do you bookmark?

There are a ton of bookmarking sites available, but I recommend that you start with some of the most popular ones like Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon and Delicious. Make sure you at least do these ones. Maybe you can begin to see, that you can create a whole linking network, with these services. And what do you catch in a net? No, not flies, something better: Targeted leads. You can share whatever you want on these sites. Blog posts, videos, articles and so on.

How do you use social bookmarking?

There are a few simple steps you can follow to really harness social bookmarking.

1. Book Mark Your Links

Social bookmarking sites have a high authority in the search engines, this means, that a link from one of these sites gives credibility to your site. This, in turn, means your site will gain trust and a higher rank in the search results. Combined with article writing, this is a powerful tool, as we spoke on in the last part of this course. So of cause you use bookmarking on your main page as well as your articles. This will over time give you huge targeted exposure and explode your internet web site traffic.

2. Choosing the Category

It is very important that you submit your link to the right category. The better fit between link and category; the easier it is for people to find it. It also makes the viewer highly targeted, because they are looking in a certain category out of interest. Also it sends a wrong picture of you and your brand, if your bookmarks show up randomly. And here it is important to think about that what you are doing is actually branding, creating awareness and that is to be taking seriously!

3. Get others to book mark your links

Here we are talking about popularity. Each of the bookmarking sites has a main page where all the most popular links/bookmarks are listed. When people see a submission that they like, they can vote for it. This is done differently on each site but the idea is the same. The more people vote on your links, the more popular it gets and the snow ball effect takes over. Always use catching headlines that intrigue people, this will get you more readers. And most important, only submit quality, unique content. This will build your votes and your brand as well.

4. Read the rules and guidelines

Before using any social bookmarking site, make sure you read and understand their rules and regulations and use accordingly. You do not want to lose such a great source of internet web site traffic!

Get on Google’s first page

We have talked about getting targeted visitors direct from the bookmarking sites. We also briefly touched the concept of search engine ranking. This is a great benefit of using social bookmarking. I greatly improves your site’s ranking. As you know, Google ranks websites based on their importance, and the relevancy of the keywords used. Also on age, but only time can do something about that  If you go and take action on this information you will quickly get new pages indexed and all pages highly ranked. The above mentioned sites have great ranking and a link from any of them will increase the value of your page in the search engines.

Social bookmarking is a very powerful tool to increase your internet web site traffic. But remember without quality content it is a waste of time. You can’t put a price on targeted traffic, it is simply to valuable, and social bookmarking will get it for you. Use it wisely! Internet Web Site Traffic Course – Part 1 – Article Writing
By Marlene Kristensen

There are several ways to increase the traffic coming to your website. The internet web site traffic course is in 5 parts. In this first part we will focus on Article Writing. You will learn about getting article ideas, keywords, links, submissions and the important author box.

How To Write An Article

First you have to figure out what you want to write about. A great place for inspiration is in fact in all the article directories. You chose a topic and see what is most popular right now. Forums is another great place for getting article ideas.

Once you know what to write about, you have to make sure you get the exposure you deserve. Articles are great for generating trust and targeted leads, but you must take care how you set things up in order to get the right attention.

When writing articles for the internet, there are a few things to take in to consideration:

1. Keywords

Keywords are search terms that people type into a search engine (like Google) to get the information that they want. We can use these keywords to let the search engines know that our article can provide that information. If someone types in “cat training”, the search engine starts to look for web pages with that keyword. The more emphasis a web page has on a particular term, the more relevant the search engine thinks it is and the higher the page will appear in the search results. Now this is what we need to be aware of if we want to use our article to get more internet web site traffic. The rules apply to our blogs and web page as well.

2. Where to put keywords

Of cause we would put our keyword in the title of the article. This is for our reader to see that the article is relevant, but also for the search engines. The engines want the keyword to appear in the title as well as the first paragraph. After that try putting it in 1-2 times per 100 words.

Remember though, keyword stuffing in an article is often penalized by search engines and article directories.

3. Inserting the valuable links

If you want to use your article to generate internet web site traffic to your blog or homepage, you need to put in links to that. This will increase your traffic in two ways. First of, people who read your article can click your link and go straight to your page. Second, the more incoming links your page has, the more authority does the search engines give your site, and it will appear higher in the search results.

Inserting links is an art. You don’t want to just through in some links randomly. First you have to get the reader interested in the subject your page is about, tell them enough to get them wanting more and then direct their attention to your link and tell them to go there to get more information or get the product, if that is your topic. Most directories have strict rules to where you can put links and how many you can have. Read the directories guidelines to make sure you don’t mess up.

4. Article directories submission

There are many directories you can post to. EzineArticles.com is just one of them. Some are free some require a fee. You can go signup to a few and see which one you like, of cause you can post to as many as you like, but make sure you change the article. Posting the same article over and over will only put you own in the eyes of the search engines. I do not recommend using auto submission software for that same reason. If you want a good reputation and gain authority, take care of the quality of your postings.

5. The author box

The resource or the author’s box has two functions. The first function is to brand yourself and gain respect as an expert author. The second function is to give your reader a place to get more information. This can be about the subject you write, a related product which you sell or is an affiliate of or it can be a link to a personal branding page. Use it wisely!

6. Last thing – article promotion

When you have submitted your article, the work is only half done. Now, it is time to promote your article even more. To do this, you can use social bookmarking, social media and so on. To learn more on this, read the next part of the course or go check out my free report in the resource box.

To sum up on getting internet web site traffic from articles, you have to pick you subject carefully to make sure people are interested. You have to get the right keywords so people will find your page. Take care of how you use links and submit your article and last, but not least, use the author box wisely!

In this article I will discuss the importance of internet web site traffic with Web 2.0 techniques. By the end of this article you should understand what internet web site traffic is and how to use Web 2.0 to get it for free.

What is web site traffic?

You probably know what internet web site traffic is. But just in case you do not; it is the amount of visitors who come to a webpage. If you do not get visitors to your web page, why even have it? The more traffic you get on your web page, the higher your search engine rank will be. And high page rank will give you more exposure your site will get in the search engines ex. Google. The reason to have a web site is either to sell a product or service, share information, or simply to have fun.

What is Web 2.0 or Social media?

Web 2.0 is a buzz word that is used about social sites, where people can communicate with each other. Popular Web 2.0 web sites are WordPress pages, Squidoo, Hub pages and YouTube.

How to increase internet web site traffic with blogging?

So what can you do to get more internet web site traffic? One way to increase traffic is by blogging. Blogging is a very easy and popular web site traffic strategy. You use a blog to publish content, videos, and/or images on a particular subject. Blogging can be done completely free and if you use WordPress, there are a ton of plug-ins you can use to optimize your page for the search engines. You can, off course, get a WordPress blog on your own domain, but then you have to pay for the domain and hosting. Blogging is often used as a marketing tool. It is very easy to sell your product or service from a blog, but here we focus on that it creates great traffic. The key point to blogging is constantly posting. You must regularly make content rich, fresh posts that are helpful to your readers. Do not Copy-Paste. Search engines will know, and sandbox your site. A blog can also generate back links to your main sales site. That will increase the authority and page rank of your main site.

Squidoo is another free way to increase internet web site traffic with web 2.0. It works pretty much like a blog, but you do not need you own domain name and hosting account. How to increase internet web site traffic with YouTube?

YouTube is one of my favorite Web 2.0 sites for generating internet web site traffic. First off, the site is very popular, you can search YouTube for almost anything and get a video that show you what you need. Visual media is very good for generating interest from potential visitors. And once again, YouTube produce very good back links, because YouTube has a huge authority in the search engines. The Page Rank for YouTube is 9 only Google is rank 10 which is the highest rank.

What to do to get targeted internet web site traffic from these Web 2.0 sites?

The number one important thing is to find a suitable keyword to target your niche. A keyword is something that a person would type in a search engine. If your blog is about “horse clicker training”. You would go and find a keyword that relates to this niche and that people search for. You can use Google Key Word Tool to analyze what people are searching for. Once you have found a often searched keyword, you need to know how many pages are using and” ranking” for it. The way to do that, is to go to Google and type in the keyword in quotes “Horse clicker training”. Google will then give you a result for the number of competing pages. You want to go for a high searched, low competition keyword. After that you focus on this keyword in your blog, Squidoo lens, YouTube videos and so on.

That is it – very basic. There are several advanced techniques to master internet web site traffic with Web 2.0. If you want to go deeper into this subject, you can go grab my f.ree report, the link is provided below. Hope you liked the article!
