Internet Web Site Traffic Course – Part 1 – Article Writing
By Marlene Kristensen
There are several ways to increase the traffic coming to your website. The internet web site traffic course is in 5 parts. In this first part we will focus on Article Writing. You will learn about getting article ideas, keywords, links, submissions and the important author box.
How To Write An Article
First you have to figure out what you want to write about. A great place for inspiration is in fact in all the article directories. You chose a topic and see what is most popular right now. Forums is another great place for getting article ideas.
Once you know what to write about, you have to make sure you get the exposure you deserve. Articles are great for generating trust and targeted leads, but you must take care how you set things up in order to get the right attention.
When writing articles for the internet, there are a few things to take in to consideration:
1. Keywords
Keywords are search terms that people type into a search engine (like Google) to get the information that they want. We can use these keywords to let the search engines know that our article can provide that information. If someone types in “cat training”, the search engine starts to look for web pages with that keyword. The more emphasis a web page has on a particular term, the more relevant the search engine thinks it is and the higher the page will appear in the search results. Now this is what we need to be aware of if we want to use our article to get more internet web site traffic. The rules apply to our blogs and web page as well.
2. Where to put keywords
Of cause we would put our keyword in the title of the article. This is for our reader to see that the article is relevant, but also for the search engines. The engines want the keyword to appear in the title as well as the first paragraph. After that try putting it in 1-2 times per 100 words.
Remember though, keyword stuffing in an article is often penalized by search engines and article directories.
3. Inserting the valuable links
If you want to use your article to generate internet web site traffic to your blog or homepage, you need to put in links to that. This will increase your traffic in two ways. First of, people who read your article can click your link and go straight to your page. Second, the more incoming links your page has, the more authority does the search engines give your site, and it will appear higher in the search results.
Inserting links is an art. You don’t want to just through in some links randomly. First you have to get the reader interested in the subject your page is about, tell them enough to get them wanting more and then direct their attention to your link and tell them to go there to get more information or get the product, if that is your topic. Most directories have strict rules to where you can put links and how many you can have. Read the directories guidelines to make sure you don’t mess up.
4. Article directories submission
There are many directories you can post to. EzineArticles.com is just one of them. Some are free some require a fee. You can go signup to a few and see which one you like, of cause you can post to as many as you like, but make sure you change the article. Posting the same article over and over will only put you own in the eyes of the search engines. I do not recommend using auto submission software for that same reason. If you want a good reputation and gain authority, take care of the quality of your postings.
5. The author box
The resource or the author’s box has two functions. The first function is to brand yourself and gain respect as an expert author. The second function is to give your reader a place to get more information. This can be about the subject you write, a related product which you sell or is an affiliate of or it can be a link to a personal branding page. Use it wisely!
6. Last thing – article promotion
When you have submitted your article, the work is only half done. Now, it is time to promote your article even more. To do this, you can use social bookmarking, social media and so on. To learn more on this, read the next part of the course or go check out my free report in the resource box.
To sum up on getting internet web site traffic from articles, you have to pick you subject carefully to make sure people are interested. You have to get the right keywords so people will find your page. Take care of how you use links and submit your article and last, but not least, use the author box wisely!
